Dean Clark, B.Sc. (Honors), MBA – Founder and Principal
Dean Clark, MBA has wide-ranging experience in business management, consulting, and investment banking. He has served in various senior management positions and as an advisor with multi-national corporations, public and private companies, and start-up enterprises.
Prior to founding the Canadian Ventures Inc., he led the consulting services division (1999) of a Calgary-based mid-market mergers and acquisitions firm, and before this (1997-99) he managed the Calgary regional office a national boutique investment bank. Previous to this position (from 1992 to 1997) he was an independent management consultant providing market research, business planning, and sales and marketing services to clients across western Canada. Between 1987 to 1992, he managed a regional office in Ottawa, Ontario for an international engineering and environmental firm.
Mr. Clark has completed numerous industry and market studies, business plans, due diligence documents, research reports, pricing and financial analyses, and feasibility studies for private interests, public companies, and investor groups. Several of these assignments have been related to private transactions and for submission to the TSX - Venture stock exchange.
Mr. Clark obtained his Bachelor of Science (Honors, 1986) from the University of Alberta and a Masters of Business Administration degree from the University of Calgary (1997).
Tony Lamb – Senior Land Development and Real Estate Advisor
Consultant and agent for real estate financing with an established mortgage investment company and a member of the commercial sales team with a major North American real estate agency. Familiar with all aspects of real estate construction, and the sales and marketing, and specializing on project feasibility and financing.
Previously with TD Canada Trust in senior management positions including that of Regional Manager - Commercial Mortgages responsible for the commercial real estate loan portfolio within the Prairie provinces. Faced with an extremely competitive market, focused on product development and introduced mortgage interest rate and term innovations that remain popular within the real estate industry today.
Civic involvement as board member and on many committees including the Calgary Immigrant Aid Society, Alberta Theatre Projects, German Wine Society, Elbow Valley Cycle Club, the Alberta Underwater Council, and numerous community and condominium associations.
Christopher Gulka, CA, CFA – Senior Financial Analyst and Business Valuator
Christopher Gulka, CA, CFA has numerous years of experience in the areas of valuations, corporate finance, management consulting, accounting, taxation, and securities regulation. He has worked with the Alberta Securities Commission, an international public accounting firm, a venture capital firm, and a merchant-banking firm, as well as consulted for private and public companies. He has been a Senior Associate working with Mr. Clark since 2000, and was also an analyst at the Calgary Office of the above investment banking firm.
Mr. Gulka has considerable experience in the financial markets and in the business sector. He has operated an international small business, raised capital for public and private firms, and structured deals to take public. As an independent third party, he has completed numerous feasibility studies, valuations, business plans, offering memorandums, prospectuses, and research reports to end-users of which included private and public companies, brokerage houses, the stock exchanges and securities commissions.
Mr. Gulka graduated from the University of Alberta, receiving a Bachelor of Commerce degree (with distinction, 1986), and he has attained the professional designations of a Chartered Accountant and a Chartered Financial Analyst. He is also a partner of a corporate finance firm, Working Capital Corporation.
Mark Ruthenberg, B.Comm. - Sector Specialist / Internet and Multimedia
Mr. Ruthenberg graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario in 1980. He has been consulting in the computer industry since 1983, originally as part of his Chartered Accounting practice. He built a successful computer training company, developing training courseware, written and published computer books, and co-founded a software training CD-ROM company (which he took public). In 1995, Mark began and funded one of the first community portal sites in Canada, the now-defunct UWannaWhat. He has since designed, developed and managed web sites for over a hundred clients, and is a popular professional speaker on Internet topics. He is also the general manager of portal sites FoundLocally.com and TransCanadaHighway.com.
He was a founding director of the Digital Media Association of ALberta (DMAA), and has served as the President of the Calgary chapter for three years. He is also on the academic advisory boards of several Alberta post-secondary institutions.
Vlado Forgac, Dipl. - Media Specialist
Mr. Forgac is a media specialist with broad based expereince in all areas of journalism and research, graphics and photography, writing and editing, as well as audio, video and web-based production.
